Call Apple if it is still under warranty. They're pretty Knowledgeable. If it's not they won't even talk to you unless you have a credit card in your hand.
those all have to do with installing new os's on it etc. i just bought this 3 months ago, am running panther on it and havent reinstalled anything. thanks for the links though. any other ideas anyone? apples customer care is closed right now.
Remove the battery, wait a minute, then reinsert. Startup holding down command-option-p-r and wait for the startup sound three times, then let it continue. That should clear it up. If not, try starting with the shift key held down.
tried all those things, got the apple logo to pop up for a second and it froze at that. tried restarting again and back to the blue screen. Thanks guys for your ideas though...man this is no good.
you have a newtwork at home?
...i have never really worked with macs before, so im just wingin it. but with PCs theirs a wake from LAN optio which might help
also, is there anyway to enter a syetm BIOS (do macs have that?)?
Have yo tried booting with the OX install disk and Repair Permissions? Boot with Install disk then open the Disk Utility and select your hard drive, click on the Repair Permissions button.
Sounds like THIS might be the problem (if you have a studio display). Otherwise, here's another thing to try...
Startup the computer while holding the S key. you should get a black screen with computer code on it. At the prompt, type "fsck-y" and hit the Enter key. Repeat until no problems are found, then type "reboot" and hit Enter.
Hi
Have you added more RAM recently - sound like a bad RAM issue.
Apple customer service for a new owner is 24/7 - should be calling 1-800-275-2273 - have your serial number ready.
Graham
Sound advice.
If you're savy enough, you might want to switch your RAM modules (under the keyboard), if you have more than one installed. If this does not work, remove one at a time.
This happened to my 12" ibook last November. It is a bad logic board. Go to the apple page and click on the extended logic board repair program link at the bottom of the page. You will have to send it in to be repaired. It took about 4 days for mine, roundtrip.
I bought a desktop last year and had major problems like the one your having form months. They finally replaced it. You may want to check out the forum post about the late night picture advanture from a few minutes ago, that person was a apple tech email her. just a thought, utherwise put in your install disc or go online to apple to get directions
