Louddog and I went to Sedona yesterday and wow... what a great time to visit there! The weather was perfect and with our recent rains and snowfall every creek and wash is flowing well.
Is the time share in Sedona? If so, just step out the door!
Avoid the jeep tour because they charge you $40-50/person to take you to places you can drive to yourself, more so if you have a rental car:)
I would recomend driving up Schnebly Hill Road and stopping anywhere it looks interesting.
Hike to Vultee Arch and Boyton Canyon (about 5 mile hike each)
Hike the West Fork of Oak Creek canyon (also about 5 miles until most people turn around).
Drive up to the airport, just because it's probably the coolest airport around and the views are good. The resturant up there is good for breakfast.
You'll be about a 2 hour drive from the south rim of the grand canyon. You'll be about an hour from flagstaff which has all sorts of possibilities.
Go to Jerome! It's about an hour away. It's an 1800's mining town that has been kept pretty authentic.
It might still be wildflower season, but you'd have to come down to the Phoenix area to catch it.

I know and I'm getting the photography itch now that Spring is arriving. I need to start taking some time away from work to have some fun before it gets hot.
Yes, the timeshare is IN sedona ;) I can't wait!!! I will keep this thread on my watch and come back to it before my trip. I'll let you all know when i get there so we can meet up maybe. I'll be there as a tourist with my husband and a friend, so we'll see if i can get away from them for a day, but if not, i'll get some ideas from you all anyhow!
Okay, it's only 2 weeks away now! Please share your wisdom with me! We are staying at the Villas of Sedona from May 6th for one week. We want to see every amazing thing we can, on a decent budget (I just got laid off, so can't overspend). We want to go to the Grand Canyon for a day. We can't off-road as we have a hybrid Prius, so we may need to take one or two tours so we can go on some off-roading trails. But, that's fine with us. I like your suggestions. Anything else we should know? There will be 3 of us (husband, friend and self).

That could be cool. I am going to go to orientation whenever that is (at my timeshare), but hopefully it will be in the morning.
Let's plan a sunset trip for a few hours 4-7pm. Where in Sedona will you be? Does anyone else want to meet and guide us?
4-7pm Sounds fine to me. If we decide to shoot from inside a deep canyon the sun will be setting sooner than on a mesa. Hey, that gives me a idea, we might be able to shoot two sunsets in one evening.
My reservation is at the Club Sunterra at the Ridge of Sedona Golf Resort. In the southern part of the Sedona area. Don't know any more than whats on the net.
It has been many years since my last visit to Sedona. Earlier in the week I may go to Vegas for a day, Grand Canyon for a day and another area in north Arizona while I'm there.
Really looking forward to it. I can still remember being so impressed with the rich red soil and the deep green trees. At the airport on top of the mesa you get a great view of the valley that's impressive in the early mornings.
