Hi all... Just a conversation starter. Personally, I think flowers are one of the most beautiful things we find on this planet. However, in my opinion, they are WAY overdone in the challenges. I personally give someone who tries to take more of an "artistic" picture but it didn't come out higher than another flower shot. Does anyone agree that there are too many flowers, or is it just me?
Each to there own I guess?
Are you saying you will give a lower score to a well taken picture of a subject you like and a higher score to a more poorly taken shot of something you may not like? seems strange to me.
That is it exactly. Out of a gazillion flower shots in a competition, I still give a small percentage a high vote because of the technique, their beauty, etc. The other 99% I just want to skip. It gets to a point where I flip through and almost don't want to even vote on another, ho-hum, flower picture.
No, I won't give a higher rating to a photo I don't like, but, something I do, I rate each photo more on just if I like it or not. I give it some points if I like it, I give it some points for the artistic value, and some points for how well the picture was taken, some points on the subject, etc.
I don't mind the flower shots but after finishing voting on the Pink Challenge I don't understand why someone would spend the time and energy to photograph a ratty looking flower. Some of those were pretty darn beat up.
