I really want to test myself with a lower end camera and these two are being discounted here at the moment. The Sony is a 2.11 megapixel camera, the Canon is only 1.3 megapixel, but is slightly cheaper and has better close-up capabilities. Neither has an optical zoom. The Canon has ISO range from 64-400, compared to Sony's 100-400. From the reviews I have read I really don't know which of these sounds like the better bet. Also, does anyone know whether the default setting for the flash on these cameras is on or off? I hate it when a camera's flash goes off when I don't intend it to - if I am trying to be inconspicuous when taking photos.
Does anyone know how fast these cameras are? I'm interested in something that can get started fairly quickly. I have read that the Sony U-10 is fairly quick, but it has very few features for the price and you can't put the camera on a tripod.
