Hey Everyone .. some of you may know that my ultimate goal is to start an interactive art gallery with my best girl friend here in Florida ... she designs clothing and does make-up and well I'm trying to do photography and art :) (maybe eventually have some type of (glamour shots)studio shot spin off or something as well as sell my own prints and her clothing and what ever else we can franchise)
.. we have been researching for our business plan and all and i was wondering if anyone had any info or suggestions on getting money to get started :) .. We found a couple sites for business grants that we plan to apply for ... we hope to have something started by the end of the year or middle of next year :)

well of course :) ... but we want to get physical space here in orlando, florida and go from there - but well we need money - heheh

... i've uploaded a couple photos so far for prints .. so we shall see :)

You need to start with a business plan, which you then need to start pitching toward banks for loans. That's my best advice.

Banks are good but grants (free money) are better.

I'm in your same boat Ayme, only on the other side of the States. I'm thinking through some different scenarios and they all involve some cash up front. So far, the only thing I've really thought to do as far as grants go is that guy on TV that pitches the book he's written about all the free money out there. (The guy with the suit like the Riddler from Batman.) He's goofy, but from what I've heard of his book, it's actually supposed to be pretty good. I know a lot of libraries out there carry it, and other versions of grant books, so you might want to have a look around.

When I went into business (not photography) years ago, I had our small business development center based at the local university help me develop my business plan before I approached the bank for my first $5000 loan (I thought it was so much money at the time and was afraid to apply).

There used to be some opportunities for women starting up businesses also but don't know it they still exist.

You might want to contact the business part of your local university and ask for them to show you how to look for grant money.
