Hmmm...maybe I should visit there some day. Aparently you have lots of alcohol, nice cab drivers, and amphibious cars. Sounds like some version of paradise.
Heard on the news today there was an 4.5 undersea earthquake off the coast too. Eerie.
Really? My phone's been dead for the past couple of days (apparently plugging it in to charge is a task I'm not willing to undertake) so I haven't talked to the folks...I'm hoping they haven't drowned. They just built a house right on the water. lol
If Newfoundland is sinking, we must be rising in BC. Hmmm. That migh explain the warm weather we've been having :)

And Toronto issued a cold weather warning..they've even got programs running to keep homeless guys off the street..It's -15. It was -40 out this way. I'm assuming -15 here isn't the same as -15 there.
Based on the weather in Canada, I think I should rescend my earlier statement about the paradise / visit. Maybe I'll wait for summertime. Don't get me wrong, I like winter more than summer, but dang.

Hmmmmmmmmmm,,, would that be the same Toronto who called in the army a few years back when they got a whole 8cm of snow.... poor babies... My lord how us country folks laughed at that one. And now they even got down to -14.... poor darlings,,, maybe they should all stay home and cuddle up to keep warm.

Labrador has great Ski-dooing when it is not to cold...very nice groomed trails! other than that.....it is just to dam..cold
Sounds like a cool place (pardon the pun). Kind of a shame the some of the really kick-ass outdoorsy places have a season or three of nasty weather. Oh well, I guess it separates the true believers from the occasional visitors.
I was building condo's at a ski resort two years back and that was the worst weather I'd ever experienced. Super-sub freezing weather, 40 mph winds and constant cloud cover, not to mention only three restaurants in a 50 mile radius. I think that could have put me off some winter living.
A geography proffesor at Memorial University says the underwater earthquake which struck the Laurentian Canyon this week, was not something that people in this province should be too concerned with. The quake, which measured 4.7, did not cause any damage but got a few people thinking about the 1929 tsunami which killed 29 people on he Burin Peninsula. The epicentre of the two quakes was in the same area. Michael Stavely, who studied the Burin Peninsula tidal wave, says this week's quake was smaller and centred on the Nova Scotia side of the underwater canyon. However, Stavely says it did happen in a region where oil companies are considering exploring for oil.

The summer temperature was +3C so Christmas must have been very mild.
+3 Celcius early in the summer for a day or two is conceivable. But it's an anomoly, certainly not the norm. It's like snow in Florida, it can happen, but not very often. :) *edit: certainly more probable the further north you. another *edit: It's often been said that our weather is so unpredictable that you can experience all four seasons in one day. Ask your friend.
