Is the background in the portrait the sky? Some texture in it would have been nice if possible... Your lucky to have a willing model that is so photogenic...

Karen- both picts are really nice. Right side of fence is a touch light, and I would have cropped a drop off the bottom of the portrait.But thats just me. Great job! Critiques on this photo please?

Agreed, re: the sky. It was such a cloudy and grey day yesterday - that's one of the reasons I made the photo into B&W so that they sky would just wash out more. I wished for a clear blue sky day with puffy clouds.... Maybe next time I photograph him, as he wants me to do that for his CD he is making!

John, thanks for the comments you made on my photos. I don't think I can convert to b&w in camera... hmmm, will have to check that out. Haven't wanted to, so haven't looked for it. That was done in photoshop. Maybe I'll play with it some more. Thanks!
Really nice shot... These kinds of macros are why I need to move away from my point and shoot toy... Well, California lottery is at 115 mil, so maybe for next challenge :)
okay. *grin*. Yeah. I put some grain in there because the shot was dark, and when I tried to level it, it just looked poor. So, I changed it to b&W and added the grain to attempt to disguise it. Never played with grain before, so wanted to try, too. Thanks for lookin'! :-)

I don't think the dark looks bad at all... I think the grain is ok but maybe at a lower level... good shot :)
Does it really seem out of focus? The owl was actually sitting on someones shoulder about 10 feet away. I brightened and saturated the colors in photoshop. Thanks for the critique :-D
