krazyivan...id suggest talking to your weather man...3-24 inches..what kind of prediction is that?? Thats the difference between a dusting and a socking!
Well, they're predicting 5-9 for me here in Pittsburgh. Personally, I hope it's more like 12-15 inches because if it's going to snow, it might as well SNOW!
I'm sure I'll be out and about finding something to do -- I love driving (cautiously of course) in the snow.

the forecast changes every hour. we'll find out this weekend. It seems that the weathermen around here pick snowfall amounts like lottery numbers. I guess it's just best guess.
We here in Dover are in the twilight zone for weather. Either is misses us completely, or swirls around an extra 3 or 4 times to really dump on us. Should be 3 inches in some neighborhoods and 20 in others. Will be nice to see this on a weekend I can actually enjoy it on.
Here in Chicago it is snowing heavily. Visibility is between 1/8 and 1/4 mile. We have gotten about 4 inches in the last 4 hours. According to the forecast and the current doppler radar this should continue all night. We have not had a snowstorm this powerful since December of 2000, and this one may be even more powerful.
Here in Chicago we have a tradition that when it snows like this, a person who shovels out a parking space for his or her car on a residential street can 'reserve' that space when driving somewhere else by leaving a table, chair, sawhorse, etc. in the parking space. The neighbors for the most part respect that and do not park there (those who do may find some nasty surprises when they go back out to their cars!). This has the tacit approval of the mayor and the police department as long as things don't get out of hand. Do other snow-prone cities have traditions like this also?
My wife and daughter were supposed to take the train down to NYC tomorrow and stay overnight. Looks like they may be cancelling mainly because there's a blizard warning in effect.
Unfortunately, my wife bought three nonrefundable tickets to the Producers for tomorrow night. Anyone think the theatre might issue a refund because of the weather?
god I feel so bad basking topless in the midsummer sun, so hot even the mossies aint biting. Oh well time for another long cold SPEIGHTS DARK ALE...Ahh thats better.

Our low for tonight is predicted to be from 62 to 67. Now mind you 67 I can handle but 62 is really getting far too cold. The high for tomorrow is only around 76, now that is far too cold. They are usually wrong when they predict a temp that cold, I would bet be get just above 80.
I'm in Buffalo, NY, ...the snow capitol of the northeast. We're only expecting 8-12 inches here - a minor nuisance. :-)
Anyone remember the famous blizzard of '77? I do. We were buried for two weeks in Buffalo. Everything (work, school, government) was shut down. I had snow up beyond my kitchen window. Drifts were upwards of 15-20 feet. I was working as a school photographer at the time and was on my way east to Rochester that morning. When I heard news over the radio that a blizzard was imminent, on its way from Cleveland, I turned around. I'm glad I did. Within 30 minutes of returning home, we had horizontal snow with zero visibility - lasting for 36 straight hours. Wind chill was 70 below zero.
But we have beautiful summers here in Buffalo... ;-)
Well, this will be our third snowstorm in one week. The one coming tommorow will be a blizzard, just like the one that hit last Monday. They are calling for a minimum on 18 inches with this one.
I have to go out now and get the groceries and purchase bird seed for my feathered friends.
Hope everyone gets to stay safe and warm for this one. I lucked out that I'm on days off work, so I'll be staying home.
I just hope we don't hammered like last year. This from the Environment Canada's top-10 Canadian weather stories of 2004 web site. It was the #2 story for the year:

For Halifax, the 88.5 cm of snow on February 19 nearly doubled its previous record for a single day. More significantly, with over 300,000 people, it is now likely the largest city in the world to ever receive such a dump of snow in one day. Buffalo, Fargo and Boise move over! the weather for burlington says likely 3-6" - but we got three inches the other night when they predicting none, so who knows. all i know is the temp without wind, now at noon is -5 F - wind chill advisory for tomorrow high of 6F. the dog does her business in record time...
