My wife was flipping through the channels last night and came across The Apprentice.
One of the new contestants says "Mr. Trump, can I ask you one question please?
Trump says "Go ahead."
New guy says "I heard once that your car got a flat tire and that somebody stopped to help you so you sent them a note saying that their mortgage was now paid off. Did that really happen?"
There's this awkward moment where everyone seems to realise that Trump is much too vain to deny this story and he crookedly smiles and says dramatically: "It's true."
What was he thinking!
This is one of the most widely recognized urban legends and has been applied to so many different famous people it's not even funny! And Trump can't just give it up and say "It's an urban legend, dummy. You're fired!"
I like his wit. I would've said "yes" too just to make the guy who asked look like an idiot. That's how I see it anyway, which is apparently the exact opposite of how you interpreted it! lol
