When you do a "Save As" there will likely be a "Option" button. Once you click on that button, there should be a section on the quality of the image (1-100 in Paint Shop Pro and 1-12 in PHotoshop). Just choose less quality until you're under 150K.
Oh, I am so glad I found some help-- I am getting anxious because I've been working on my photo for TWO days, I can't get it submitted. Down to the deadline here.
I use Paint shop pro, but I also have Irfanview I can go to. Is there a location where I can actually see if it's 150k or not?

in paint shop pro 7, when you save an image as a jpg, click the [options] button, then click [Run Optimizer]. you will get a preview of the final image, along with it's size underneath. you can then adjust the compression until it's below 150kb.
I have found out from having the same problem with Paint Shop, usually if you have the image down to 640 x 480 or smaller just make sure you save it as a jpg other wise it is going to be to big.
I have resized my photo to 640x480, but DPChallenge won't accept it because it is more than 150kb. Can someone please tell me how I get it to be 150?
I don't understand why we are limited to 150 k,because regular image size from camera is 0.3 Mb at 640X480 pixels.This is very confusing for general population without computer education and half of submited photos for challenge are either too small or low JPEG quality!
Among other reasons, the 150k limit is to reduce bandwidth requirements (both for the site's servers and the user's line), to reduce site storage requirements, and to reduce the likelihood of photos being "stolen" for unauthorized use.
I always save my edited image in TIFF format, and then use "Save A Copy) to save in JPEG until I have the size low enough.
