... as I have been - just look thru the scoring of ANY of the past challenges --- I haven't examined ALL of the scoring, but I'd bet that over 90% of ALL entries get at least ONE vote of "1" INCLUDING the winners!!
for what it's worth, a smaller percentage of all entries garner at least one vote of "10", AND MANY RECEIVE BOTH!!
so keep in mind that this is the mind of the voting populus, and just have fun!
One thing I noticed this week is that the scores between the top 3 photos is the closest I have ever seen it. The TOP photo is usually a good bit higher than the next two...
Sorry I do not know where to post that. I was wondering if a 'skip picture' button would be helpfull. Sometimes there is a picture I do ont want to vote for right away, prefering keeping it for later for different reasons. Lionel

When you get to the one you dont want to vote on, go back to the thumbnail view page, then select the photo after it and carry on from there :o)

Is there a quick way back to thumbnail view? Sometimes I might vote on 4 in a row then want to skip one, and have to click back a number of times. Slow.

This will take you back to the page with all the pictures. If you want to cut down on clicks, just vote the picture a 10 or a 1. You probably won't have that many 1's or 10's unless you have some sort of bi-polar disorder or just see the world in black and white with no grays. Then when you are done with all your voting you can revote all your 1's or 10's.

aha! so the thread returns to my original point - perhaps there are two groups with that strategy - 1 doing 1s and 1 doing 10s - and they both neglect to go back and submit the REAL votes to ALL the entries ...

Wow! Not only are those close, but I just noticed that my 7th place photo was only 0.01 points away from the 6th place finisher. It just goes to show you - it's just a number, nothing more.
I actually PREFER the constructive comments. I am here mostly to learn, and that is the best way. Some day down the road, say 10 years from now, I may be good enough to compete with the best photos!!

Yeah, scores always seems to drop midweek like a lead balloon. I'm not sure why-- perhaps the people who vote midweek are harder to please?
In any case, this has been my first submission in which my score seems to keep rising instead of dropping (of course, it wasn't very high to start out with)... I can't figure it out... and I don't think I'll try! :-)

I have seen my score go both ways during the course of the week... In most cases, though, it seems to start out low and rise a little throughout the week... I usually know about where I will end up by the end of the day on tuesday... I usually don't fluctuate more than +/- 0.1 after that...

Of course the larger the number of votes given will make it harder to move as the week goes on.
Critical mass does come into play at about 150 or more.
If you have a good score you can then stand back an yell 'Nyahhh,,Nyaahhh, Nyaahhh" at the low voters or you can start writing your terms of surrender if your vote is low at that point :-/

My score right now has varied up to +/- .4 in the last three days. Apparently I have one of those "love it or leave it pictures." My scores are going to be an upside-down bell curve! 8)
Interesting about noticing the trends stopping by Tuesday. Perhaps this means we could have a shorter voting period and then more challenges? ;) J/K.
There is a lot of vote adjustment that happens throughout the week though... I vote on everything on Monday... I go back through those photos during the week and comment and study a little closer, which sometimes causes me to adjust my vote one way or the other...
