Why is it that when I try to do something a bit creative no one gets it? I have always thought that this site has so many creative minds, but with this mechanincal challenge I really got into and thought deep for my entry....which no one understands.
I cant really give away what I did, since it is still being voted on...but I can say that I blurred my subject a bit to go along with the title of my shot...but noone understands that and they just are giving me comments about the blurred section...too much dof. I did it on purpous and wonder why noone gets it!???
I try new techniques in the challenges too smoon273, and often get lower scores etc. It's a good way to learn, to grow.
What I figure is my image shouldn't need explanations, it means that my new technique needs more work. I haven't quite got it right. The comments usually help me to see where I went wrong/technique needs tweaking! LOL If I can't see where I got it wrong I'll come back to the forums after the challenge is over and get more advice.
I'm not saying this is what happened with your entry....can't wait to see it after the challenge is over. Post it in the forums after the challenge.
Okay, so let's reverse the question here. Instead of asking why don't voters get it, instead ask what can you do to improve so that people get your work?
Picasso wasn't completely understood, but his work was beautiful so most people don't really care what it's all about. But if your work only appeals to you, it's probably your fault, not the viewer. Or so I've come to understand.

Exactly. Like I stated in another thread, the quandary of DPC is "Do I submit for myself or for the voters?".

I totally understand what ya'll are saying! Im proud of the image that I entered. I get it. Its for me I guess, right!???
If I want higher scores, then I should apeal to the voters. I will be the first to say...Im not entirely great at photography..and I have alot to learn. So, thanks for helping me see the error of my ways! :)
Hey Smoon, just wanted to tell you, I think of all your challenge submissions, your mousetrap show the most maturation photographically. Very nice shot, oh, and p.s. if you look at all the professional product photographer's stuff, DOF is their friend. Do you what you think looks good and push yourself. Art is happens when you least expect it.
