A good friend of mine had gone to the coastal areas for an alms giving when tsunami had hit.
She was reported missing and the body was identified today.
We were all there from 9am till 10pm in the night.
I will not go into much detail, but the body was identified today and it was buried in that area since they were moslems and they do not keep the body for more than 24 hours. So they did not bring the body back to Ccolombo.
Dr. Sifani Bongso was the only child in the family.
Graduated medical school in July 2004 with honours.
She was a very good friend of mine.
May she rest in peace.
Please cherish every moment you live- life is precious and very fragile.
I'm so sorry about the loss of your dear friend, as well as the many other lives lost in this terrible tragedy. The whole thing is just so overwhelmingly sad and surreal. You are so right that we should cherish every moment we have. Life IS so fragile.
I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I know your grief must be so overwhelming. Please know that there are people all over the world whose thoughts are with all those who have lost loved ones.
I just found out that my Aunt and Uncle in Madras are OK but I know that there are so very many who were not so lucky.
My deepest condolences for you and her family. I will not buy any fireworks this year, and rather give it all to the help organizations. This tradegy is too sad. :`(
My condolences. We all owe one death... when it will claim its right to us, we don't know. When it will claim its right to someone we love, we're also not sure. When it will claim a friend... not sure. But it will. After suffering such a loss I learned one thing, care for, and about, those around you NOW... next time may be too late. Forever too late.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and the rest of her friends and family, as well as the friends and family of everyone else who lost their lives in this tragedy.
I'm so sorry for your loss. How terrible this tragedy is. We hear the numbers and stats, but mustn't lose sight of the personal losses of many. At our prayer meeting last night we prayed for all. I shared a couple of personal eye witness accounts of the devestation and how it personally affected these witnesses, who lost loved ones, and all their possessions.
Our group is raising money and will contribute. We continue to mourn for those injured and dead. The Bible says "we weep with those who weep" and yes...we do.
God bless you and we'll include you in our prayers.

I couldn't have put it more perfectly. Our most heartfelt condolences on the tragic loss of your friend.
My prayers are with those who lost so much. I work at a hospital and many of our Doctors belong to an org. Called "DOCTORS WITHOUT BORDERS". They have just left for SRI LANKA. I am sure when they return, Me and my co-workers will understand more fully the great tragedy that has transpired.
