Its been two weeks since its been gone and now I'm starting to believe I'll never see my camera again. It was a Sony DSC-S30 and I've taken well over 8,000 pictures in one year since I've used it. I was at a party and it went up missing. I feel like killing someone. Anyhow I'm starting to go through major with draw. It was like an extension of my body. My third eyeball. I miss being able to post my pictures to this sight, now all I can do is post the pictures I have already to photosig. I'm a Jobless college student. The camera was bought for $500 brand new. The major problem is it wasn't mine... it was my parents I still don't know how to break the news, I think I'll just wait till they want to use it and ask me where it is. If anyone knows where I can sell my soul for a camera drop me a line please.

No seriously I think you should tell your parents someone stole it as opposed to just telling them when they want it. Right now they don't need it right? If you tell them when they really need it than they'll be even more pissed. Just a thought if you can't find it cheap anywhere.
Definitely tell them sooner than later and after They have recovered tell them how badly you miss your third eyeball. I bet they will help you get a new camera some how. Tell them we will really miss your photos and that we are really counting on you. : ) BTW I'm sorry that happened. A friend's daughter had a party when he was gone and a bunch of his stuff was stolen including his camcorder which included his new wedding footage. He hasn't told his wife yet either. Ouch. I know the longer he waits the more she will be mad that he didn't tell her sooner. That kind of communication is pretty important, at least, in my humble opinion.

I agree with the others - tell your parents ASAP. You'll feel better, and your parents may be able to help.
I understand about your missing your third eye too. I went through similar withdrawal when I broke my camera in October. It was 3 weeks before I received a response from Fuji about how much it would cost to repair it. I decided to spend the money on a new one instead.
Sorry to hear about that... that truly sucks. I will second the suggestions to tell them sooner rather than later. It's not your fault, you were a victim of a crime (I also hope you reported it to the police).
Also, if you haven't looked into it already, renters insurance is cheap and covered your personal property, mine is about $10/month. Also you might consider a personal articles policy on your camera. You can cover if for loss, theft or accidental damage for a VERY small sum of money, probably only a couple dollars a month. It's worth it for the peace of mine.
Obviously this won't help you for this camera (but your parents may already have it covered) -- but I hope this advice can help you and others in the future.
Also, let your parents know soon, there might be a time limit on when they can make an insurance claim.
Thanks everyone for you support. To be honest I was kinda of hoping to get a response like here you can have for five dollars but I guess nothing is free. I'm at my photography class right now and the smell of photo chemicals is soothing. I think you all made valuable points. I'm gonna go up to my parents and say Mom, Dad I have some bad news... I have a speeding ticket for $109, the digital camera was stolen (but its ok coz I took so many pictures with it, there is no way its still a 1.3mp camera) oh and Um..... the even worse news.... I got a girl pregnant.... :( They'll be really shocked at this point giving me the evil eye. And then I'll say alright I didn't get a girl pregnant but I did get thieved and I do have a speeding ticket. I think that ClubJuggle brought up a very valid point - notifying the police. With a police report, it can likely be covered under home owners insurance; without one, not much can be done.
Ricky, Sorry about the camera. It happened to me once in Vancouver and it was a real disappointment that someone would do such a thing. I hope that things will work out for you. Ricky. Don't feel that bad. I recently went on a vacation to St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands and I had my laptop stolen there (I brought it to upload my pictures to so I could take a lot) and then on the way home the airline lost all my luggage. All I returned home with was my camera. I would have rather had my laptop. Cameras are alot cheaper.

someone said that. It was true. Only it was 400. Still didn't get the police report faxed from them though and didn't get anything back. They're stuck on island time I guess. Tell your parents. At least you didn't get a girl pregnant. If you did you wouldn't be able to take pictures of your baby.
