A good cigar, smoking it outdoors under a starry night and a good fellow to talk to (deep shit) gives 100x more satisfaction compared to a joint and room full of supposed good mates (good mates until you run out of weed that is).
These are both toxic, and illegal in most States. That funny, woozy feeling you get is brain cells dying.
While marijuana is probably carcinogenic to some degree and undoubtedly a risk factor for lung and heart disease,(when smoked, not when consumed orally), it does not seem to be so blatantly neurotoxic as the stuff suggested here.
Weed can do strange things to people. experienced it first hand with some colleagus and 'friends' and 'myself'.
Many substances can induce a variety of psychological effects ... witness the great success of Budweiser, Prozac and Starbucks.
Personally, I am primarily concerned with the physical damage these things do to your tissues and organs -- how things make one feel is a private matter for each individual to decide, but things which consistently create an unacceptable level of morbidity and mortality are a matter of public health.
Sorry, don't smoke the stuff. If you are having trouble locating some you could always try growing your own. Take a look at //www.emeryseeds.com/, I hear it's a great place to buy seeds. You'll have to wait 6-8 weeks for it to flower correctly though... :-\
I know a few people who have used it many years, and they are definitely not on the same planet as the rest of us.
From your description, your sample lacks sufficient size from which to extrapolate such broad generalizations. I've known people who've used it daily for years, and are far better "grounded" than the average teetotaler or barhopper.

You may may be correct, I suppose it all depends on the volume used, drink or drugs, but I think there is very strong evidence as to the long term damage with either, maybe some people are more tolerent too?.
