Gordon, it's really hard to distinguish between "I did that on purpose" and "What's Depth of Field mean?" Same with soft focus vs. a lack of focus. Or for that matter, too dark vs. setting a mood or any other artisticly creative alternative to what the eye sees. I am extremely visual. I like visually exacting photos, same with canvas art. My wife has taken a life long art appreciation education in my case. I'm pretty much hopeless.
After reading many forums about on purpose photos being not exacting, I have tried to "lighten up" on this aspect more, but I'm still pretty tight @$$ about it.
I don't have any kind of suggestion to help you out, except maybe, keep ranting often enough and maybe the message will sink into the masses.
