Is there any advice you can give me to prevent the grain increase when making level adjustments. I am using PSP, but have a light version of Photoshop that I haven't used yet, which may or may not do the same thing. I also encounter the same thing when chaning saturation levels.

Kandice, here are a couple of things to try. Make sure you are not oversharpening your images and see if it still prints well without much visible grain. Make sure you are using the lowest ISO and plenty of light. If all that fails try either the Smart Blur filter (or equiv.) or check out the free demo of Neatimage at //www.neatimage.com/ It is a pretty powerful, albeit a little slow, application that is great for getting rid of image noise.

Also, using RAW or TIFF format rather than JPG may help in maintaining image quality during processing.

Be sure, also, that any Unsharp Mask is the very last thing you do to the picture. Can make a big difference.
