I've been seeing a pretty cool effect in snowboarding magazines. Essentially what you have is a snowboarder making a jump/trick in the air; the neat thing is that you'll have like 10 to 20 shots of the progression in the the same "frame". It looks like it was done in burst mode, then the 10 to 20 shot superimposed. Is there a software that does this? I assume it would keep the same background (which has not changed) but add what is different from the other frame (in this case the snowboarder). I couldn't find any examples on the Web ... but I'm seeing it alot in skate/snowboarding magazines.
I know it's in burst mode for sure. I suppose you could also cut and paste the snowboarders. Multiple exposures would make the background way too bright.
Bod, that's a very good idea. You could cut the image in mutliple (10-20) sections with your subject in it. The photo stitching software could stick them together.
Are all the shots from the exact same angle? If so than I don't think it would be hard to just have one of the photos in photoshop and then add each aditional photo as a layer on top of the photos and erase everything around the snowboarder. It is easier to do than explain. I haven't done it with 10-20 shots but I have done it with three or four.

This is exactly what it sounds like to me - I've done it with as many as five shots, but I would love to see the shots you are talking about, using that many layered shots.
You could just use blending properties in photoshop to layer all twenty photo's over each other, and have just the snowboarder show up in every shot. I forget which blend mode you'd use to do this, but it wouldn't be too hard.
Probably one shot, long exposure and strobes used to light the subject ? Certainly another way to to do it. The background exposure would be correct, as it is one shot, and the light on the snowboarder would be correct for each flash, with the correct power settings on the strobe.
I've seen the same kind of thing done like Gordon said, with strobes. Someone in a room moving to different spots so they show up several times in one photo.
Usually that's done in a dark room though so the motion blurs don't show up at all in between the strobes. That would be real tough to do with a snowboarder in broad daylight.

No problem I'm an avid Snowboarder and TRANSworld Snowboarder magazine buyer so I knew what you are talking about. Though after that kid in the Olympics got busted for smoking weed most people think us Snowboarders are on drugs:)

I don't think it took a bust to convince people that boarders are on drugs. Anybody who wears baggy clothes & hoodies *must* be on something because they're not part of the mainstream ... erm, except me of course!!!

I just took it as a series of shots and stitched together using panorama factory. It was a while ago so the stitching isnt very good, but it gives the idea.
yes yes yes!!!! this is one of my favorite photo techniques by far (I used to take alot of skateboarding shots in this way.) I don't have any online to show since it was years ago. I was never able to get it right when you didnt keep the camera still though, so you need a tripod. Konador. Yours was awesome. Where do you get panorama factory or something like it free or really cheap (i'm poor !!!) oh, and i quit all the drugs, but can't deny having done them. :)
