Sure. I have one. Hasn't automatically resulted in ribbons, though a unique perspective does seem to help for some topics. Last blue I got was over a year ago and it was taken with a compact camera while riding my bike.

That's impressive, I've never been able to get anything decent with a compact camera. So much for it being more about the photographer than the equipment, I suck with a camera phone or a point and shoot. :(

I actually have quite a few ribbons and top tens with a compact, as it is what I take with me when cycling. My recent red was taken with a Sony RX100 III that I just bought. Controls are a little more fiddly than the Canon G7X though. I keep accidentally changing exposure comp and shooting mode. The higher end cameras do remove some limitations and offer things you cannot get with a compact.

I get decent shots with a compact from time to time, but I don't even try with a camera phone because my hands are too shaky to hold it steady.
