Something happened when I brought in one of my memory sticks to have a CD burned. They said there was only one shot on it. It now states format error. I took 70 shots on it while on vacation in Florida. I really don't want the shots to be lost, does anyone know if there is a way to recover the picts when this happens?
Although this may not help it should give you some hope...
A friend brought round his "unformatted" smartmedia the other night. Although his camera reported an unformatted card I was able to read it both in my camera and card reader, and managed to recover all but one of his photos.
If you don't have one, now may be a good time to invest in a card reader - they tend to be more tolerant than cameras.
Your data *should* still be mostly intact on the card - you just need to find a way to get it off :-/
Sony gives the following explanation for why this could have happened: ´´When Reading Or Copying Data On A Memory Stick To A Computer Via A MSAC-PC1/PC2 Memory Stick PC Card Adaptor, The Original Data On The Memory Stick Media May Become Corrupted.``
Unfortuanately this means the data (photos) will be lost. Re-formatting the card in your camera should fix the error though.
Camera won't show it, printer only prints one shot, computer only shows one shot!
I got the camera to take a new pic on the card and then it showed it was full, so I think there still must be a way to recover the others. Or am I just in denial?
Same thing happened to me with a flash card. I did a check-disk on it through a card reader in Windows and it recovered all of the files (with odd file names, but they were all actually jpg, just had to rename them with a .jpg extension) so I got everything back, then had to reformat the card to restore it to proper funcionality.
