The monkey -- wish I could be specific, as that would be more respectful -- in your entry appears to be strong and dignified, more than adequate as a male portrait. His coif is very GQ. I found the background to be a bit drab and noisy. For those reasons I gave it a 6; it rose above mundane, but not by that much.
Male 1 is, for me, much more exciting, though excitement is not necessarily the be all and end all. He has an interesting face well brought out through contrast and composition. Would have given it a 7 or 8.
