We were promised Minimal with Cropping but that has not happened yet! My current camera has only 3:2 and 16:9 ratios.

It's definitely too late to change it now. FYI, the last Minimal challenge to allow rotation and cropping was in June of this year:

Canon EOS-60D
Sigma 85mm f/1.4 for Canon

Phone cams are perfect for minimal...more ratios.
