Need to pick up new batteries as mine barely hold a charge anymore.
Right now the top two that keep getting recommended are Eneloop Pro's and AmazonBasics' High-Capacity for AA batteries. The cost difference is approximately double ($100CAD) for 32 batteries. Anyone have experience using both brands to justify the increase in cost? Or any other recommendations?
The Eneloop Pro is a rechargeable battery, The Amazon Basics doesn't seem to be unless I am missing something...
ETA: I see I was looking at the wrong AB, both are rechargeable. Eneloop takes a bigger charge though (2550 v 2400). Is it worth it? I have no clue... LOL
I've been using Enloop AAs for while. The ones with colored wrappers supposedly retain a charge while in storage better than "regular" rechargables. I got them in a package of 8 with a 4-slot charger; FWIW I think they're made by Sanyo.
You might want to comparison-shop at GreenBatteries.com -- they have/had some good technical information posted in addition to sales; I was even able to talk to the proprietor on the phone when I had a question.
AA or AAA Rechargable always used Eveready with no problems used them over 30 odd years ...
*Supposedly* the Eneloop Pro stores more charge and holds it longer. It's a different generation of battery. I have no personal experience with it. Nothing critical in my life at this point relies on AA battery power.
Here's a test I saw on Youtube a few days ago. The point of this was to see which batteries charged up closest to their stated capacity, but it doesn't appear to evaluate any other criteria, such as charge/discharge cycles.
I do wedding and event photography and there I use two flashes and two AD200 and the flashes that I use have these batteries and works like charm. I usually have an event for about 4-5 hours and approx 700 photographs and battery is all good.
I've been using Eneloops for quite a few years and they have been very reliable. I've been using some of the same batteries for at least 5 years (probably longer).
I bought a La Crosse BC-700 charger last week. It charged all the batteries my other chargers didn't.
Tonight I found out that none of old batteries can hold a charge longer than a handful of flash bursts. Tomorrow I'll purchasing four dozen of the Amazon high capacity rechargeables. So many others point to the fact that they could be relabelled Eneloops without the price tag.
