When I searched the forums, I found two threads from late 2002 (here and here) which discuss the fact that thumbnails on the voting page continue to be randomized with each page load when viewing the submissions sorted by what vote you've given. It was mentioned that this could be fixed when the final version of MySQL 4 was released. It has been, so are there now plans to fix this problem? *crosses fingers*
Because it makes reviewing the votes and making adjustments extremely difficult. Say the group of pictures I've given 5s to overlaps several pages. Each time I click to go to the next page, it randomizes the whole set again, so I see some of the same pictures I just saw and miss others that I haven't already looked at.
Randomization makes sense during the initial viewing, to ensure that everyone gets approximately the same number of votes. After I've looked at all of them though, there's no reason for them to be randomized if it's possible to do otherwise.
The threads I linked to before indicate that other people (including Langdon) also think the current behavior is wrong.

I suffer the same symptoms and would much prefer to vote through a given block of images from left to right in an orderly fashion, especially when I cannot or do not wish to vote on 'all' the images.

Yes, if you try to skip over voting for one, it comes back in a couple of images, over and over. Doesn't seem to be completely random, does it.
Perhaps there should be a 0 vote for "abstain" (the vote not counted in the average at all.)
