Some people asked in the comments to my dot com photo, how I did it. Well, I think it's a bit late to append it to the photo comments, nobody will read it. So I post it here.
I printed the ".c m" on white paper and bought a soap bubble maker. It had a special (very slimy) liquid which made the bubbles more resistant so that they don't burst so fast. Ideal for photographing. I tried several times until I managed that the bubble fell to the right place.
The result was this which is the cropped and resized original. Well, then it was obviously manipulated, but of course only by means complying to the rules.
First I used the unsharpen mask of my image editor (The Gimp). This is the result. So that caused the strange "glowing" around the letters. It also brought up the bubble much nicer.
After that I played around with brightness and contrast. First a little but then I saw that when I decrease the brightness and increase the contrast quite a lot that it looks very dramatic (compared to the very flat image before). Then I increased the saturation because that way the middle area came up with a different color than the edges. I thought it would be a nice way to lead the eye's interest more to the bubble. I also adjusted the hue a little to something I liked more. The result is the final image.
I knew that many people won't like the photo because it looks unnatural and obviously postprocessed. I understand that and partly think the same. But to me it was not "too much" but I know that this is a subjective feeling. I also knew that I would loose points for the grain, but I didn't care ;-)
