So I'm back from a two year hiatus, re-upped just before this whole DPL thing and man, have the rulesets changed... So I'm wondering, (Best Seinfeld Voice) What's the deal with Motion blur??? There's no mention of it anywhere... Back in the day, adding it in what was the "Advanced" ruleset was strictly forbidden... I don't see any mention of it in the current "Standard" ruleset... So I guess my question is, if I have an image where there is already motion, and I add motion blur to smooth it out, is that against the rules? Asking for a friend :P

Under the current Standard Editing Rule set, you may use any filter as you see fit, and it is strictly up to the voters to determine if the effect is "appropriate" or not.

There is an overview of the rule changes at the beginning of this announcement thread which may be helpful.

and by "it is strictly up to the voters to determine if the effect is "appropriate" or not" it has been explained that that means if it's "too much" voters will reward the image with low scores . . . if it's "just enough", they will reward the image with high scores. It does not mean that the "voters" will decide, either collectively or individually, that an image should be DQ'd. At least that is my understanding.
