Did anyone see the news that Smugmug had acquired Flickr?

Went into my Flickr account today and it was front page news. Interesting development.

Indeed! As a longtime SmugMug user - Zoomdak.com - and Flickr user, I'm personally happy about the purchase. SmugMug is a good company and takes great care of its customers.

Flickr could have been so much more like it was growing to be. I hope SmugMug figures out a good plan for it.

It does make one wonder what OTHER companies could use a bit of consolidation / leverage in the industry ...
