Back when I only had the Dx body D70, I got the 12-24 lens. What I learned right away is that my idea of "wide angle" could be accomplished much better by stitching together images from my 24-70 lens to make a wide panorama image. The wide angle 12-24 lens was not so great for the panoramic views I had in mind. But it ended up being very good for the things wide angle lenses do well. Gradually I learned how to actually use the 12-24 mm range to get exaggerated close items, good medium distance items, and wonderful distant items (smaller scale then initially expected) to come together in a true wide angle shot.
So I'll second the recommendations for the 12-14 if wide angle is what you seek (or want to learn). By the way, welcome to DPC as a newly registered member. |
