ETA: Just watched the vid - what an asshat. The photog, that is. By staying low on the ground, in a submissive posture and then presenting the top of his head to an animal who is designed to butt his head against another's is just plain idiocy. I blame him entirely for not bringing this to an end sooner by standing up and driving it away. When he stood up he backed away instead of moving confidently forward, and when he finally returned for his gear, he turned his body sideways to the elk instead of standing square on to him. He may as well have extended to the elk an engraven invitation to come and headbutt him, cause he did everything wrong.
