This is an unedited version. I cant seem to get the dark on the left and bottom to look better. Even cutting most of it off doesnt' really do much. How could have have taken it better?

Tim, I can''t really tell you anything about how to take the photograph, since I''m really here to just learn...but I really like the photo the way it is. Maybe it''s just my monitor here at home but there''s detail in the shadows and the haziness in the background is a really nice effect. You can almost feel the shade and hear the water from your perspective. It reminds me of canoe trips I''ve taken.

By the way, you''ve really taken some nice photos. :)

Tim, if I were you, I'd just leave well enough alone. It's a great image even with the dark shadows. If you have to, you could always try working a separate layer that has nothing selected but the shadows and attempt to pull out some of the detail. But blending the two back together and keeping it natural looking would be dfficult at best.

I like it just the way it is too. It's a beautiful photo...nice and fresh and peaceful. :)
