The Snapshot challenge has a yellow flag next to it. Why? I've double-checked and see nothing unique about the way it's being run; no special rules (i.e. must be square crop, etc...).
This challenge is running under one of the three existing rule sets that DPChallenge is currently using. If there's nothing "special" about it, please don't flag it. It just makes it confusing.
... and if participants can't read the rules, then shame on them (I know that's going to be the SC response ... "we want people to know to be warned, etc...").
The square crop is the special rule - remember in minimal you aren't allowed to crop your image.
"Extra Rules: You MUST crop your image to a perfect square. You MAY rotate your image incrementally as well. Otherwise, Minimal editing rules are in force. Not-Square images will be DQ'd."
most recent Minimal challenges have spawned "I wish I'd noticed this was Minimal before I shot for the challenge" threads -- the flag makes it more likely people will notice before shooting.
Also, remember that we have two variations on the Minimal rules, to allow cropping/rotation or not. Since the other Minimal challenge on the board specifies cropping, it might help people notice which "version" of the Minimal rules is in effect for this challenge.

The Minimal rules specifically state you may NOT crop. So flag the challenge when the exception to crop has been allowed. If the challenge is running under the standard rules for the challenge no flags are needed.
Isn't this enough? It should be. Anyone who enters a challenge checks this box (mandatory to submit) stating they have read the rules, etc...

No, it is apparently not enough. Not even close. I have submitted an image more than once to a Minimal challenges without noticing/remembering that they are minimal until voting started. Yes, even after blindly checking the little box. I would like to request a the flag be much larger. Maybe change the color to red. If possible, animate it so it is waving wildly. Thanks for asking.
now that's an idea: why not make the ruleset captions colour coded: red for minimal, blue for extended, and, um, er, beige for standard?
I doubt people would notice the distinction anyway; I mean either we READ the front page when the challenge posts or we don't, it's right there top-dead-center :-( In MY case, it's not that I don't know a particular challenge is other-than-standard, it's that it slips my mind when I am out shooting.
