Excellent question. I want to hear "not allowed" because I went through the ass ache of the century getting my perspective shot aligned LOL!!!!!!! I am sure for future reference I would like to see it is OK though...
Just so you know, I'm NOT bringing this up to try and get someone DQ'd or anything... I didn't even enter the Perspective challenge. But I would like to know for the benefit of future reference, as I do plan on entering the Rhythm challenge.

In Photoshop you can put a marquee around the whole image (or part of it) and distort it to make things out of square due to perspective shifts, square again. It is a global edit (or spot depending on marquee size) and is real helpful when using really wide angle lenses.
I don't care either way to be honest with ya. I have learned to toil without it.

Photoshop and I assume other image manipulation programs allows a photo to have its perspective warped. The effect commonly used is to take a "flat" photo and make it look like it shot with a fish-eye lens. With the abilty to manipulate perspective you can correct the lines of a building or straighten out perspective distortions of a shot. In theory, a fish-eye lens shot could be perpective manipulated to look like a flat image with the proper processing.
Granted, it may not have been an issue back in the day, but I'll almost be irritated to see this one go through as a legal edit after all the flack I got about perspective issues in Sun, Moon, Star.
But, then, I'm a grumpy old man who has issues with desaturating all the yellows and blues to leave only reds in an image even if applied across the board, etc etc etc... because I see that as massive amounts of "spot editing" -- ie on a pixel to pixel basis....
I don't think we ever got an official comment from Drew or Langdon but my guess and hope is that it is illegal. this is because you are in effect selectively editing areas of pixels relative to the other pixels in the scene. It goes against the spirit that this sight is about. If any of the distortion tools were allowed it would allow all kinds of gross distorted effects and I would find that very discouraging at the least. Remember, if something can be misused it probably will be.
You should assume anything is illegal unless you find it explicitly allowed in the main Rules.

Ahh, Patella. I remember Sun, Moon, Star. Beautiful photo... It was one of the first photos I ever voted on. And I do recall you catching a lot of flack about its "straightness."
Silly me. At this time I thought that folks were refering too whether or not the photo was "tilted" with the horizon line not being level. But now that you mention it, seems you were accused of perspective correction, which, if I recall correctly, you categorically denied.
And Tim, in way I want this to be denied too. It would make it A LOT easier for me to pull off the shot I want to do for rhythm, but you are correct in saying that it would go against the spirit of the site.
