My niece has invited me to travel with her and my sister to Paris and Lake Geneva Switzerland. She had another friend that was supposed to travel with them but at the last minute had to back out of their travel plans. So they had the room (all paid for) to invite me and all I've had to do is pay for the airfare and travel $$$...I'm totally amazed. We leave in less than 6 weeks (good thing I just renewed my passport!!!)

I've been to Paris and have a pretty good idea what I want to do there but as always I'm open to suggestions/pointers. We'll be there for 9 days then we are driving to Lake Geneva Switzerland (5 days). This is where I really need the information....we don't mind going off the beaten path...some. But I don't have a clue what is between Paris and Lake Geneva...I've been to Lake Geneva but that was like...a thousand years ago!!! And I'm not as familiar with Lake Geneva either....so any ideas/suggestions that you have would be appreciated, I hate to find out about some nice little place after I've left an area....(of course any photo's are welcome as well).

Chateau Chillon on the eastern side of the lake is picturesque:


Chamonix 1 hour south is just straight off a chocolate box and from there you can ascend by cable car to Mont Blanc:

Unfortunately I've never visited Paris so far, but two weeks ago on my way to Southern France I made a short stop at Lake Geneva.
There wasn't much time to explore the region but by chance we stopped at the small town of "Rolle" which is on the northern shore.
This town is very charming and offers a beautiful view over the lake to Mont Blanc, has a landing place for the ships cruising the lake and offers some water sports.
IF you happen to be there during your visit make sure to visit the 3 storeys antiquities shop ot Charles-Emile Moinat at Main Street - especially if you're fond of exceptional interior decorations - this place is just awesome.

Please be prepared: Switzerland is a quite expensive region, I payed for a one person pizza dish 25$ which seems to be the usual level.

Ahh - between Paris and Geneva - are you going by car? Can you stop wherever you want? I'd plan a stop at Beaune and Cluny.

If you are driving, you can't go wrong. Just point your car in the general direction. The towns and landscapes are exquisite.

We are driving from Paris to Lake Geneva...

I'll try to ck out the restaurant.

Most of the plans are already set...I'm a last minute (5wks-for me) addition to the trip!! I just don't want to miss something just a few min off the route!!!
