I love how crisp images look on a glossy monitor (which is what I have now).
BUT... the room where I have my monitor has windows to the rear of me, and the reflections in the glossy monitor's surface are really distracting... not just for photo editing but for everything.
Does anyone use a matte monitor to edit photos on? Would I hate one or love it?

Same problem as you. My window is right behind me and that's why I bought a matte one after.
I keep using the glossy one as the blacks, red, blue tones are so much better to look at.
My larger monitors are all matte. I do have a more glossy monitor on my laptop, and I do find that reflections are more of a problem. There is the perception that a glossy monitor looks "crisper." Bottom line is, I can see the individual pixels on my matte monitors, so the matte finish is in no way limiting the sharpness of the displayed image. In the end, though, if your current monitor is meeting your needs it will be far less expensive to mitigate the reflections by installing window treatments than to replace the monitor, assuming that the replacement will be of photo-editing quality.
Matte for the win! The high end Eizo's don't come in glossy. The issue with matte is they come with different levels of AG(anti glare) coatings. I found some to be highly annoying for reading text. That said, I'd still choose matte.
Asus is great. I have one here. The Art series is very nice and comes calibrated out of the box. Just mentioned the Eizo as a point that the monitors made for editing don't usually come with a glossy finish.
