His attention to detail is what does it for me.
Yes, he has the skills to add himself to those photos very neatly, but he pays such great attention to light temperature, levels of contrast/saturation, noise/grain, filters/effects used etc.
And long before those steps, he nearly always gets the lighting right on his own image to match the target one.
