I think my post got removed, but i'm pretty sure we had a buy/sell section of our forums, right? I also didn't see anything in the forum rules that disallowed this kind of behavior.

That's correct. The reason should be obvious; if folks could come on board for the sole purpose of selling gear, they'd do it — and we'd have zero ability to apply oversight. With a members-only buy/sell forum, we at least nominally have some sort of connection with the seller and that's a normalizing influence.
folks have no problem at fred miranda or potn comfortably buying and selling gear in a large disconnected environment. if you opened it up to non members you might attract new members here. just a thought.

I think it depends on whether someone could sue Langdon because some seller or buyer feels ripped-off -- that's why I asked about liability disclaimers or waivers at the other sites.

FM Forums do require that you pay a fee to sell. They also have a rating system to rank buyers and sellers, so it's not simply a matter of anyone throwing stuff up for sale.

that is true, FM does require a paid membership to sell, it been a while since I sold there.POTN is free however. about a disclaimer, not sure, i dont read them.
paypal affords the buyer protection and is usually the preferred way to transfer money.
