As a photographer in Colorado, I was humbled by the beauty and excellence of the movie, The Revenant. It was very much like they filmed the movie in my "backyard". It was a harsh existence in the "West" in 1823. The light and weather extremes were quite familiar. Although I've wanted to see this movie, I'm a bit squeamish and have avoided it because of the brutality. However, after reading your post, I may reconsider and endeavor to view it through the veil of photographic feat.
A movie for western fans - dark, dim, features low winter sun, filmed in wide angle and available light through out.
I liked this film, there is nothing else like it.
