Just curious as to how many thought my entry was an oil painting? It was a reflection in some semi-curled up gold card. I left some clues (including the ambiguous title) but one comment indicates that it was taken as existing artwork.
The thumb makes it obvious you're holding a reflective, curved surface IMO. I suppose those of a suspicious mind might think you were holding an actual print, but since the thumb itself is perfectly reflected and I'm not by nature suspicious, I was content.
Hi Marion. I recognized a curved reflective surface right away, from the thumbnail, but that's because I'm fond of shooting reflective surfaces myself.
You may be amused by this story--for a BW portrait challenge long ago I did such a good job PP to look like an antique photo that a couple of commenters thought I had taken a picture of a picture.

It seems that people, even photographers, don't always see what they're looking at. And, I realized that I can't count on the voter to take a second look.
The thumb being included and being perfectly "real" made it obvious to me that this was someone holding something... that already had its own "painterly thing" going on...
Looked clearly "reflective" to me.
I thought it was well done... just not what I really love in an image. I'm not much fond of abstract images.
I actually wished you hadn't included the thumb, and I would have voted it at least a point higher. I think the use of the imperfect reflective surface was genius. What a cool result from a simple technique!
