I am going to have a huge learning curve with it just to figure it out and I was told it will be good for portraits too but I have no experience with that yet

I am soo shocked I got the lens today! I was so not expecting it until next week sometime.
Of course I had to play with it and so far I can say I am loving it!!
I think I will try it with my macro rails, lighting and extension tubes. I am sooo happy with the quality! No wonder why it costs so much money for good glass!

I am not to used to having just a fixed lens and I am treating it like a zoom but this is going to be a huge learning curve for me and I have to find out how to know what the sweet spot is, as a matter of fact I have no idea what the sweet spots are on any of my lenses, but I keep hearing talk about it.
But I am just enjoying the heck out of it. Now, to save up for my 500mm lens and I will be all set!
Now to put my UV lens on it to protect the glass a bit LOL

I did try those a few years ago. Found that they were pathetic...... the output was NOT what I had hoped for. They compared a bit more to a match (although the temp/white balance was better). I think this is one of those cases of "you get what you pay for". I am yet to find the budget to pay for the REAL thing.
I purchaseed a cheap LED one on amazon and love it!!!!
I have found other heapies which were really bad and not worth a penny.. you do get what you pay for as beetle said.
Very powerful and the thing of it was it is all plastic and nothing metal for 40$ i got a really nice macro rail with it and that was all heavy duty metal. When i get home I will send the link to what I have brought.
Here is a new try with the set focus first.. and thank you Cory...that makes much more sense on how I need to use this lens.. totally different than zooms for sure. So much to learn on this
