so does this basically mean

1) phototgraph of flowers OUTSIDE, and clearly visible as such

OR

2) photograph WILD FLOWERS, e.g., not cultivated flowers in gardens, etc.

there are plenty of photos entered to DPC of flowers outside in their "natural environment", including my recent entry into Pastels



so it is not much of a "TWIST" if all it means is outside.

I had the same thought. Flowers in their natural environment dominate flower photography. I predict the blue ribbon will be won by a landscape with a flowering plant in the foreground.

What I meant was to show the environment like in this place

Unfortunately I was one day late... I just came back home :(

A landscape with flowers in the FG. Looks like a great place. Very scenic.

Some flowres are grown in hot houses. Does that count...?

I'd say yes... but it depends on how voters are going to interpret it :)

How would a hot house / green house even remotely qualify as a natural environment?

I think because the plants are growing in dirt and not photographed as a studio set up then it would still be classed as natural environment. As long as you made it obvious that they are in dirt and not done a close up of a plant placed on an object.

What's not natural about a greenhouse? Plants are growing naturally--just in a protected environment.

The description doesn't specify live flowers still connected to the plant.
