This challenge about parts is it going to be almost like an abstract thing or what? i'm not really getting the thing!?! its a part of something but those the person need to understand what part its meant to be or can it be any part of anything you want? just through me a frekin bone here please! :)
Challenge Details:
Photograph 'part' of something. Do not photograph the entire subject. Be creative with your angle and approach to your subject.
I interpret this challenge as almost on the verge of a free study. Every photographer gets to choose his/her subject may it be a person, place, or a thing. Then the photographer must take the photograph in such a way that the entire subject is NOT shown. Then be creative in his/her angle and approach.
· Pick a subject; any subject
· Photograph subject in a way that the entire subject is not Visible.
· Be creative in your angle.
· Be creative in your approach.
As said in another thread earlier in the week, if the subject is a person then take a picture of a portion of the person. If your subject is the face of a person, then take a picture of a portion of the face, if your subject is the ears of a person then take a picture of a portion of the ear, etc.

In my opinion this challenge is quite open because You can NOT take a picture (except those 360 degrees pictures) of a 3-dimmension complete object... 3 dimensions can not fit completly in only two dimmensions.

ya, but trust me, taking a picture of a person and saying 'its only the front part of him' wont fly very well... its technically a loophole to the challenge, but its not one that voters will credit you for discovering.
Voting on huge challenges like this scares me because I'm afraid I won't have time to really look at all the entries closely. I go through and initially sort them using 5-8 as placeholders. Historically, on large challenges, I rarely get a chance to go back and go through all the 5's and add comments.

you're better off taking your time with the photos and risk not voting on 100% rather than scanning through them and voting on them all. its not a big deal if you dont vote on all of them, and i people appreciate comments....
OK, I'm new here and confused as all get out!
I did not submit to this challenge ... was all set to hit the submit button, then happened to see in the detailed description of the challenge something that made me think my photo would not fit the criteria - my photo was of the colourful electrical wires inside our generator, and upon closer inspection of the criteria, it sounded like it was looking for parts of a person or animal that had special meaning - the special parts, if you will. So now I see a gazillion entries that were like mine - parts of "things". Now I can't go back and re-read the words that made me stop and think because the challenge is finished. Was I wrong? Are a whole lot of the entries off topic? Or is it me?
Sue it sounds like your photo would've met the challenge. It seems to me that you've mixed up the open challenge topic with the member challenge that is currently there (Defining feature).

It looks like some people took a picture of the whole thing, then cropped it to include just a part!
That may be how it looks, but there's no way to tell, during voting, whether the picture was taken that way, or not. And, what difference does it make as long as only part of the subject is in the picture?
I would be careful not to vote a photo down because it could have been cropped to fit the challenge vs. it being taken that way.

My photo looks as if it could be a cropped image, but it is not! If you choose to vote down a photo for that reason, I know I would like to know that's what you thought in your comments. I am hanging around the 5 mark and expected this one would have done better than any of my past photos.
I said before mine might not fit the challenge, I guess a lot of people feel that way. Fairly low sore for me. I guess people don't get my double meaning cause they don't have enough time to think and read the title as well as look at the picture.

If a photo looks this way, it doesn't matter if it was or wasn't taken that way.
What I mean is that the composition wasn't carefully thought about in the examples I'm thinking of. The thinking seemed to be "Hey, here's something. Hey, I could photograph a 'part' of it and it will fit the challenge".
Remember, I've only looked at a small fraction of the images...I'm just expanding on my comment below.
Edit: ...and I will try to comment on a good chunk of the pictures, but I'm not promising nothin'!
