I'm looking to pick up some batteries for my 5d2 for event shooting.
I'm up in the air whether or not i want a grip, but I need a spare battery. any recommendations? I'm leery of amazon reviews for batteries having been burned many times on phone and laptop replacements with seemingly great reviews.
if i have to go canon brand for reliability i will but i was hoping to save a few bucks since I have some other stuff i need to purchase.
also looking for some battery options for my speedlight (canon 430ex2)

Dude, you're 96 years old and don't even own a camera. What do you need batteries for? I think this is the beginning of dementia....
For my DSLR, where I only have 2 batteries, I've always just gotten the Nikon battery. For the various mirrorless cameras I have now, where I carry pocketfulls of batteries, I get the Wasabi batteries. They seem to work fine, and come with a charger that's smaller and lighter than the Nikon and Olympus chargers (and exists, unlike the missing Sony charger). The only problem I've had is that the Sony can't get charge information from the battery, so it will show as full until the camera dies. The Sony doesn't do very well with its own battery either, so I'm not sure if it's really a battery problem. Some people say that you have to charge the batteries with the same branded charger (name brand with name brand and generic with generic), but I haven't had any compatibility problems yet.
For my Nikon flashes, I use the eneloop rechargeables.
