This shot was supposed to have the steam showing, but I quickly found out that was not going to work, hence the following shots the next night.

This is actually my Square Crop Entry, I didn't enter it for Warmth because I thought the image didn't really show as much warmth. The shot was actually a mistake, I had three lights set up and two of them didn't recycle quickly enough. Only the backlight I had to highlight the steam went off. Turned out as a pretty cool shot, if I do say so myself.

After a suggestion from my wife, I think I should have shot this:
The reason I say 'should have shot this' is that this is a pretty extreme crop of my entry, and it shows. I think this would have done much better than my entry if I had gone for this in the original composition. I was kind of fixated on that hat (that she loves) because frankly, it looks too damn cute on her. In retrospect, I don't think it worked really well for the image though. |
