Ok, so this next section goes over tone curves and adjusting the curve. I am not sure how many of you acutally play with the tone curve in lightroom but I am finding this is actually kind of fun to mess with..... or if you make it a part of your regular work flow.

I just took a pic of our pup whom was taking a nap in the window and he thinks he is a cat.

I played strictly with the tone curves and nothing else in this photo

I am thinking I may have over adjusted the exposure too much ?

Suggestions or changes .. hit me :-))

I use Photoshop but I use Curves (adjustment layers) almost exclusively for tone/color adjustments. One of the most powerful editing tools, especially when combined with masks for the adjustment layers. We have a Tutorial for using Curves here ...

I agree with Paul that it is one of the most powerful editing tools. In fact I've just spent a couple days doing little else, LOL. I had a few hundred color-negative images that I needed to digitize. All the color conversion was done in Lr using tone curves:


ETA, to the OP:
I suspect the original had much deeper shadows, and I don't think you've gone too far in opening them up.

Awesome!!!It will be good to see that ..thanks for the link.

I am finding that it is much easier to play with instead of the sliders...knowing I can do this on all the photos now is really ccol. I love opening up new can of worms lolol thanks guys
