... was it that bad? I've been around long enough to know how unpredictable this site can be, but I really thought this was good enough for a 6+ score and Top 10-15%.
If I was voting on it I would have had one nitpick, but it was minor I thought (will share that point later - don't want to influence any feedback).

need to see the kids face, with him more engaged with the dog. when people see leaves on the ground they want color pop like mad, the fact they are all kinda brown ruins that imo.

Understood. That's my wife BTW. :-) FWIW I actually did some desat on the color because the leaves in the sunlight we're popping TOO much and I thought viewers would suspect an overly aggressive saturation. LOL.
The lack of the human's face is what killed it for me. *sigh* The rest worked for me, although if I were nitpicking, I'd want to see all of the dog's face, too.
The ball being "almost" in place of your wife's face threw me off... still does. It's like she's holding her head in her own hands and about to throw it for the dog.
Subliminal? Yep. But... it's what I see each time ... right at first... when I see the image.

I love the one you entered into the Free Study. That says "happy animal" more to me than the one with the human....
Yeah. I'm seeing that for sure now. :-/ Should have asked for some feedback prior to entry. Don't usually do that, but I could have been persuaded I think. I was on the fence myself on which one to enter. Thanks for the comments.

I generally have to agree with this statement, but the following made a 7th place which I thought was a good image.
I think there was not enough to reflect an emotion whether it be faces, action, interaction, etc.
I agree the second image would have done much better in the voting, at least mine.
Funny you should bring up my image, on the first day it was on 6.76 then every vote afterwards for nearly four days, was a five mainly or a six. I kind of figured it was bc it was shot from behind, and people couldn't see the dogs eyes. Not that that matters the dog and man are clearly having fun, in fact, this guy was running super fast but it does'nt show in this image. Anyway that's beside the point.
glad2badad I gave yours a 5. I think what everyone else said sums it up, I couldn't figure out why your wife's face was covered and the dog is obscured as well. I think if you had the dog running around the yard instead would of made it more interesting.
