Well, it's called "kerning" but it's a pretty gross example of the phenomenon :-) The regular type's just so crowded together, ya know? Sometimes a word needs room to breathe. Especially " u n t i t l e d ": untitled demands a lot of breathing room.

It might not be necessary if the titles had the same typographic flexibility as the forums to utilize the Bold and Italicized fonts ...
And adding a space character between letters is more than kerning ... also most DTP programs refer to that as "letter-spacing" -- when it's applied to a span of characters (a whole word, sentence, etc.) -- while kerning is used when referring to the adjustment of the spacing between specific pairs of characters.
Sometimes when creating a title (on paper) where I can't adjust the font size I'll use an underscore between letters instead of spaces, like T_H_I_S ...
