Family friend sent my a Facebook message asking me for help with a new aquisition. Unfortunately, I have no experience with the product she's asking about... but I told her I know a bunch of people that MIGHT know a thing or two. So... here I am asking my go-to community. Can you help?

It is probably an after-market adapter for filed-lens/P&S cameras, not for SLRs. Prices for these seem wacko though -- I got a cheap one essentially as a free throw-in when I bought an inexpensive used camera from another DPC member.

I got one of those cheapo ones as well a long time ago. Piece of crap which didn't work :)
Given the product descriptions, it seems the adapters are designed for modifying SLR lenses, which should make one have immediate and serious doubts. The other thing that glares out is the blatant use of all the buzzwords, or buzz-acronyms if you will... "HD", "L","IS" (WHAT?) and the faux red band.
Just as telling is the absolute lack of depth of any of the product descriptions. These are adapters you'd expect to see on e-bay for ridiculously *low* prices, and yet here they are at riduculously *high* prices.
They speculate that the website with its expensive prices are to show gullible shoppers: "Look these sell for a lot more than I'm trying to get from you!"
