I went to the White Sands National Memorial Balloon Fest last weekend. Unfortunately, the sun never came out from behind the thin clouds that were the edge of Hurricane Javier (yes, the effects extended into New Mexico). In fact, the rain came the next day and cancelled Sunday's activities.
The White Sands without the sun shining directly, lose much of their impact and tend to look a bit dusky instead of white. The balloons also don't show their color quite as well.
I worked the levels on a few of the shots and managed to make them almost sunny though.
