I was so lazy with this.
Took photos since April 2004 and only today printed 70 photos :-)
Wanted to print only the special ones, eventually it was mostly family photos.
I like the quality, too bad I didn't know that the standard print is 15x10 so they auto-cropped my images (camera proportions are 4:3).
All this fun cost me ~16USD (converted the currency).
Firstly, I think there was a misunderstanding here, when I said 10x15 I meant in cm, not inch - thus, the standard 4x6 size, nothing fancy.
jxpfeer, no, I printed them in the local photo development store, it's way too complicated to do DPC Prints - I live in israel and shipment is very awkward.
Especially that this was just my first ever prints.
I got my first print from a digital camera from DPCprints. It was this photo. I really liked the quality even in 12x12 print. This was my 1100th odd frame from the camera.
I have taken around 5000 pics since I bought my digicam, and last week I took a CD to the local Photo/Printer store and got 145 prints done at 7x5". This cost 34 Euro but I was really impressed by the quality of the prints. I have learnt that this proportion does not suit the camera I have but will certainly be going for more prints once I have made a few photoshop adjustments.

What was the file's resolution? Was there a major crop? did you upsize before printing? I realize 12 x 12 isn't huge but just wondering.

My camera gives me 2048x3072. but the way I had arranged the leaves, I needed a 1:1 ratio so I cropped to get 2048x2048. Adding the border increased by about 90pixels. the final image was 2138x2138
I have to try a print after enlarging... i am trying to get a 20x30 which is ofcourse an enlarged version from my camera. when I get that I will sure post about the quality

they are in Nahariya but shipment is not expensive, They are the chipest I have found in Israel, their quality is wonderful, and the service... Like nothing I have ever seen in Israel before !!!
I had to enlarge a regular (not digital) scanned photo to a 80x60 (cm) print. But I was afraid the resolution of the original will not stand this enlargment. This guy there, Gil, did all the checkings with me on the phone, and after deciding it would be ok, he said he would actually print it, and if it doesn't turn good - he will let me know, so I will still be able to cancel the order.
not only that it turned AMAZING, it left me with such a great taste. The kind you don't usually get on this part of the world...
If I have a photo which doesn't fit a standard print size, and I don't want to crop it (further), I just add background canvas until it is a standard print size. That border can be trimmed off or matted in a frame, or (as I tend to do) contain the title and other info (less to remember that way!).
I see no reason to not present the image portion exactly the way I want it; although it's amazing how often I crop freehand and it ends up almost exactly at the 3:2 ratio -- only two pixels off the last time.
Jinjit, thanks for the site, I'll do my next order from there :-) I registered already and so far it seems very promising, not only cheap but I can choose the style for every photo very easily, unlike the real-life stores.
