I am new to digital, so bear with me if the answer to this is obvious to all of you!! It seems that the higher the resolution setting, the l-o-n-g-e-r it takes to take the shot. I end up missing some good stuff. Is this normal, or a possible problem with my camera?

I have the F707 and it works rather quickly in the 5mp JPEG FINE mode.. if you are taking TIFF images, it takes 12-14 seconds to write that 17mb file to the memory stick...

OK, I'm definitely thinking operator ignorance on my part! I'm definitely in JPEG, and I'm only talking a delay of about 1 1/2 to 2 secs. I just did a bunch of test shots on different resolutions, and it seems to be relatively quick, SINCE I CHARGED THE BATTERY. I'm thinking maybe the battery was getting low enough that it was sluggish. Possible??? Also seems quicker with the red-eye off. Thanks for the input. I'll learn...

red eye reduction definitely introduces a delay... also, just push the button half way to compose your exposure then push it the rest of the way.. it should move fairly quickly from that point :)
